hey guys, long time no speak, been doing alot of work over on the GTR forums.
odd and somewhat novice question, but iv always wanted to know, could i yank the rediculous A6 out of my 08 LS3 and convert to manual? even if its extreme, could this be done and for what price? there is so much money into the car at this point, to get rid of it bc is auto is a shame.
thanks for the insight heres a quick shot of the GTR and the vette

The obvious question is, why didn't you buy an M6 to start with?
the obvious answer would be i made a mistake haha the car is shared in the family and not everyone enjoys stick. but now the car is a weekend car only so it would be better off a manual

Yes. I saw a thread on it somewhere. Or maybe it was some of the auto parts being sold in the for sale section. I would imagine that it would be so much cheaper to sell your car and buy another one.
Put a properly sized converter in there to match your turbo's powerband and you'll say the hell with the manual...
Well I guess that depends on how much you enjoy shifting. If an auto just doesn't cut it for you then you'll probably never be happy without a stick regardless. But a properly stalled and turbo'd car is insane!
All you have to do is find someone that wants to go the other way (manual to auto) and a competent shop to do the swap. All you would have to do is pay someone labor. I'm sure there is someone who would rather do swap for swap rather than pay for a conversion.
In a turbo car, I'd stick with the auto and a custom torque convertor. It'll be faster than the same setup and a manual.
Exactly, I mean if you want a manual just because it's more fun to drive I understand, but if you are tracking your car whatsoever I would recommend building the A6, with a manual you will be paying a decent amount for a upgraded clutch to support your power on top of the money to do the switch. Your car can be decent amount quicker with an auto with your setup.
Century Transmission in Houston can upgrade the A6 for $3200 without the converter. This is the company that did Subfloor's A6...and he drag races his quite often. I am doing this trans upgrade as my next mod, hopefully in January.

Or it's only $2400 if you have him build one without the billet intermediate shaft which is an $800 upgrade. I didn't have him install one in mine and as of last weekend I'm up to 72 passes and it works perfectly every single time.

What specifically don't you like about the A6? I just noticed you're running a twin turbo so if it isn't shifting properly, it might be from having larger than 63lb injectors but not running a Speed Density tune.
I'm not sure what your level of expertise is regarding tuning so I can elaborate on this if you'd like.
RPM does manual to auto all the time so I'm sure they can do the reverse. My guess is it would cost $6-$8k out of pocket.

I looked into this a couple of months ago and inquired about it with RPM Transmissions. Their response was -
We wont convert an A6 car to a manual. There is too much wiring that is a mess to deal with. Its not worth doing at all. I would stay right where you are at. As long as the transmission is tuned correctly it will be fine.
Forum member Keith N did get his A6 converted to M6 by RPM Motors in California. He said it's the clutch/brake pedal dash wiring and Trans. wiring that makes it a difficult conversion.
the car has a protorque 2800 stall convertor in it now, which i was told was the perfect stall for my set up.
i would consider upgrading the auto but the way the car is driving now the paddles are so delayed i cannot even use them. when i upshift the rpms seem to jump up about 500rpms before the actual shift.
this sucks because the car isnt fun to drive anymore, sure it has a ton of power but the tranny simply cant keep up, not sure what to do on this one lol
