Default Engine light on...

Last night I was diving on the hightway and I was checking my install full consumption. It was around 26 m per gallon, then when i got on part of the highway that was going down hill I notice the it went up to 38 milles per gallon and I thought It make sence because I'm going down the hills and the engine is not working that hard but right after the hill the engine light came out and I do not know if this can give some a clue of what is going on.
I made a search in here and I found a whay to check "display error"
The "diagnostic display" mode is entered with the following procedure:

1) Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
2) Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
3) Press and hold "options"
4) While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-second period.
this is wht it says:

My question is and forget me if my question is stupid but I'm new with corvette.
How do I turn on the ignition without turning the car engine on. I have a button that has the option of turn on the egine (with the brake on) then the option to stop the engine or turn on Acc.
Thanks

Hold the bottom of the button down for 5 seconds and it will turn on the ignition without starting the car.

I went to inflate my tires because one was low in pressure and another too high and as soon as I leave the shop the engine light is gone. Wird because I tought that is a tire was low in pressure it will show the tire sign, in this case is was lower to the other 3 but it was with a good pressure (28psi) I put all my tire to 32psi and the problem is gone for now, I hope it does not come back.
Thanks

This procedure only works with the C5, not the C6.
