Whats the best wheel and DR combo for stock 2009 A6 car I see alot of guys running used wheels but whats the best 16s,17s,18s?Im partial to MT radials but I see a few cars running Hoosiers but their runing 10s,9s.I have 1LT w/base brakes so smaller diameter rims will fit.
You will need to size down to a 18" rim in the rear to really open up your options on the DRs. Lots of guys running the MTs out there, but there are alot of other options also.
I've seen some C6s run as small as an 17" in the rear.
It depends on how you plan on using the car.. if you plan on going to the drag strip a lot, Micky Thompson are one of the best & I used them 305/35x18" but my car is almost stock, & I have a 100 mile drive to Englishtown and the MT were wearing out pretty fast (3 sets a season)
(I race every weekend) ... so I tried Nitto 555 (The older type) and they hooked ok for my almost stock 05 (A4) and l was able to drive to & from the track all yr and race on "ONE" set of tires...I was getting 1.85 - 1.95 60' times and ran low 12 sec consistantly...
If you plan on more HP then go with MT or another sticky DR....
PS I used to live on W 10th St. just off Kings Highway.. you know where that is... we moved from there back in 1950 to Ct. now I'm in Westchester County..
9.5 x 17 front wheels from a '03-'04 C5 Z06 and Hoosier 275/45 x 17 DR are the most reasonably priced lightest available. C4 sawblades are only a couple pounds more (22 vs. 19) and much less $.
Don't drive Hoosiers on the street unless you enjoy buying tires often.

i actually have the 17x9.5 that came off the front of a C5Z but i have M/T 26x11.5/17 slicks mounted on them hope this helps.STB
I am going with a pair of 18x9.5" C6 Z06 repros to match my existing wheels with MT ET Street Radial II's 305/35/18. If it were for track use only I would go the 17" wagon wheel route but I need them for day-to-day use.
