my car was almost out of gas so i pried it open. i then tried pushing on the actuator, i pushed a lot harder than anyone should have to push on it to get it to move and it didn't move at all.
i filled it with gas then went and ran my errands. after the 30 min drive i decided to give it a shot and press the button again and it opened right up. wth?? do i need a new solenoid? i dont want this to happen again because i had to use a lot of force to pry the door open and im sure if i have to do it again something is going to break.
The usual routine is to try WD40 first. If that doesn't free things up then likely the spring inside is rusted and frozen things up or the solenoid has frozen. Check this thread for lots of good info including a DIY actuator replacement pdf:
well like i said i tried pushing on it after i pried it open and the thing wouldn't budge. i used a lot more force than should be needed to get that tiny piston to move.
yet when i tried it 30 mins later it worked fine. so idk whats up with it? its not frozen if it worked later ya know?
