I just bought a C6 with the Vararam installed, reading these forums, I'm concerned with the HydroLock issues, I will be driving the car a lot, not in the rain if its forcasted, and really dont want any harm due to the intake. The car is lowered 2 inches as well. I was looking at the picture in the link I attached, and was considering drilling a few holes in the back of the channel to allow water to pass thru, in the unfortunate event........ (CON- it would also allow some of the ram air to pass thru as well, any thoughts or concerns with that?
You have to drive through some deep water to flood the unit. Go outside and look at your car's front. It doesn't go under the car, it breathes through the grill. Unless you think you'll be going through a foot of water, I would not worry about it.
Drilling holes isn't going do anything but let hot air in. At 2000 rpm you are moving a lot more air than can pass through a few holes.
Don't drill. I live in S. Fla. The day I installed mine, I drove through one of the worst rainstorms of my life. All I could think of was the hydro-lock issue. Like the previous poster said, stay on the road and your fine.
The holes would be drilled just behind the grill on the back of the device where the intake starts to turn upward, that way water would exit straight out of the back, but so would air coming in. I don't plan on driving in weather but was worried if I was caught out in it like some of these guys have. Ill take your advise and leave it for now. THX

It won't remove the volume of water that would be needed to prevent the problem.
Avoid the urge to be a U-boat commander and you'll be fine.
I drive mine year round, rain or shine. water does not get into the vararam. You'd have to get into a foot or more of water. SO measure a foot up from the ground and you'll see that the door would be under water too and you'd have water inside the cabin too. If your deep enough to hydrolock the engine using the vararam then you've got a lot more things ruined then just the motor
