Default Need some convertible top help -- :)

Hi All,

2009 C6 and the automatic top works fine, but the part with the rear glass gets caught on the tonneau cover when the cover opens and closes.

Is there an adjustment inside the convertible top itself that controls how much the glass portion of the top is lifted? (or is dropped?) I think that's all there is to it -- it just need to go a little further up to clear the tonneau cover.

I'll be happy to post a photo or diagram if that helps.

Also, if anybody has some sort of "exploded diagram" of the top itself, that would help too.

I have the technical bulletins from the dealer, but they seem to only cover other adjustments, like for the tonneau cover. It's not a tonneau cover adjustment -- that's working fine.

I can post what I have and maybe I'm missing something. In fact -- that's not a bad idea anyway, it's interesting stuff... just that it doesn't fix my problem.

Thanks!

Fred

Not really a tech/performance question - you would probably get more "eyes" on it over in C6 general.

Other than that - yes, it is a known problem. My vert does the same thing. The Dealer made some adjustments under warranty - and it improved, but did not 100% fix. But it can be made more manageable.

There are also many threads on it already over in C6 general.

Thanks BluV -- I was wondering if this was the right place or not.

Mine does the same thing. The cover just barely brushes the back glass on the window when it closes, and makes a "clank" sound when it hits it.

I'm considering loosening the four bolts that the cover bolts on with and sliding it aft just a couple millimeters to give it more clearance, and also to close the gap between it and the trunk lid to try to reduce some of the wind noise that I think is coming in through that gap.

That's what one of the tech bulletins addresses. I did that and originally adjusted too far back so that it interfered with opening the trunk! Oops...

It helps, that's for sure. But there is another adjustment that I'm just missing that would hold the glassed panel further away from the tonneau lid. That's my quest...at this point.

If you find the adjustment that holds the glass further forward, let me know what it is.

Same here. After the dealer adjusted mine - it worked for a while, then slowly came back. Then I adjusted my tonneau and the trunk lid myself. It helped - but you can only go so far before it causes other issues. I agree - I think the real issue is the glass itself. I am just in the habit now of putting my arm/hand on the back of the passenger headrest. I use one finger to hold the glass slightly. By doing this - I have noticed the glass sometimes points straight down (and the cover bumps), other times it is actually angled slightly forward at the lower lip (no bump). Sometime when I put my finger on the edge - it seems to hit a "notch" in the adjustment and holds itself there after I push it slightly. This leads me to believe there has to be an adjustment for this angle.

I have seen threads on this in C6 General - but have not spent enough time over there to find out if there is a fix. Once I got in the habit of holding it, it fell lower on my priority list (sorry). But if you find something - it would be good to know.
