Hey guys, I'm absolutely beating this subject to death, but im about ready to pull the trigger and am trying to determine what to do.
I have an 05 C6 with NPP's installed and m2w. I like the sound, but drive with the valves open 99% of the time and wish it was louder. I had borla straight pipes on my c5 - that was too loud but bada$$. I really like the idea of headers/catted x, and the power gain, but I am worried the sound difference will be marginal. For anyone that has this setup - how much louder did headers actually make your car?
I'm trying to judge whether or not it would be more cost effective to just change the exhaust to something like bullets/loudmouth and live with the drone, or will the NPP's and headers sound similar volume wise to bullets? To me, I don't experience any drone with the NPP's open in my car. Any feedback would me much appreciated! Thanks, Kevin
I have NPP with headers on my 05. I added the mufflers first, and several months later the headers. It was a very noticeable difference in sound. Much louder. However, I really haven't listened to enough other exhausts to tell you how it would compare to them. When the flaps are open, there is drone during low rpm cruising, and I am glad I can close them to kill the drone.
I don't think you can go wrong with headers (and tune), as they are a good foundation for additional mods in the future, and you will pick up some hp immediately.
I would love to get an offroad pipe, but dont think I could stand the smell, I drive the car alot. Thanks Wass, thats what I was hoping for. Hard to tell from what other people say, but some people say that they really scream with headers.
I've been trying to do that too, pretty much exhausted all clips, heard Wass's w/ cam, and another static clip with LG's, but other then that none other with the NPP exhaust
This is a different version from what you listened to on the other thread. It is more of a drive by with the sound continuing for some distance after my C6 passes by. Hope it's helpful.

The offroad clearly "intensifies" sound but the trade offs aren't worth it.
If you have the NPPs open that much, ditch then and I would do the B&B from headers to axel back. Not sure if you have auto or manual but the B&B PRTs by themselves have no drone. Im not sure if the headers and x-pipe are added if it does but the B&B is suppose to really keep the drone down on autos. I will be going complete B&B to finsish up the axel back PRTs I got soon. Plus I will have them weld resonators in to help the drone too as I am a little worreid about the full setup not having some drone. Right now the PRTs alone are an awesome sound, and I had the regular exhaust, not the NPP, so Im sure I picked up some HP too. If the NPPs gain 6 hp then an aftermarket should gain another 4 or so over that as they are a pure straight thru.
