does gm make ceramics pads for a 2011 gs? if so does anyone have a part number? thanks
Well.....the GS has the same brakes as the Z06, and to my knowledge there is only one compound offered by GM for those calipers.
First of all, I don't think you can get GM ceramic pads for the Z06/GS calipers; and, second of all, the GM Z06 pads are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive!!!!!!!!!! Take a look at forum vendor Gene Culley's website ( http://gmpartshouse.com ) and it looks to me like you'll be paying slightly more than $1,000 for a set of GM pads.
Gene does sell Hawk pads, and a set of ceramics for your car will cost around $280.
So.....I'd recommend that if you don't mind the slightly reduced performance of the ceramic pads, go with the Hawks.

Just MHO, YMMV!!

These are probably your two best choices for switching over to ceramics for your GS. Although, you will find that the Carbotechs are a bit more than the Hawks, but as stated above they do provide a one piece design if that's what you're looking for.
Front $289 Rear $239 we offer 7% discount, contact me at 216-780-8825. This is a single backing plate giving you more pad surface and even pad wear.
The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

i was thinking going the hawk ceramic route but some complained about brake noise, is it worth paying more for the carbotech and are they quite?

Only you can determine if the extra money is worth it. The Carbotechs are fairly new around here but have gotten generally great reviews so far. If I can find some of those threads I'll post back but maybe you should just call and talk to Adam and see how you feel.

what seems to work better the single pad or multi pads?
We prefer the single backing plate. The one piece design gives you 20% more pad surface and alot more even wear. you will notice that the individual pucks will wear at diffrent rates, which you will see when you do your brake job.
