Default ls7 tb vs ported ls2

they are both 90mm. is there really a big difference in the castings. i can get a used ls7 tb for same basic price as getting my ls2 ported. does anyone have any documented gains from switching to ls7 tb.i will be porting my intake.

You will need to be careful which LS7 tb you consider. Our research shows that the LS3/LS7 tb, part number 12605109, that fits 2009-2010 vehicles is wired differently than previous years and functions a bit differently. This model can generally be picked up at a lower price than previous years but would not work correctly on your vehicle.

When you're ready to have your intake manifold ported (and possibly tb), we would love to do your work. Here's a link to our web site http://www.peakspeedshop.com/. When you send us your im for porting, we only charge $75 additional to port your tb. Also, here is an endorsement we recently received on the forum from SpinMonster. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...the-block.html

2008 and earlier LS7 and LS2 are the exact same part number. I currently have one of each and they are the same.

I just switched out my LPE LS2/ LS7 ported and polished unit this morning. It is the silver blade unit which i believe is the same as yours. PM me if you are in the market for one.

The LS2 and LS7 throttle body is the same up through 2008.
The LS3 and LS7 throttle body is the same 2009 to current.
We've seen 2008's to have the earlier model early in the production year and the later model later in the production year. The easiest way to tell the difference is that the early model has a silver throttle plate and the later model has a gold throttle plate.
