Think trans went out

I have a 05 Z51 with a 402 stroker A4 tranmission and I was driving down the street and gave the car a little gas and it went to shift and all of a sudden reved up really high where the gear wasn't grabbing. The car will acted like its in neutral if I put it in D, it will go If take it out of drive and put it int first second and 3rd...... what to do?

I'm going to assume you checked the fluid level in the tranny?

I can where is the dip stick I cant locate it =O im a newbie when it come to theses things only see the oil dip stick.

there is no dipstick for the trans. car must be elevated level, the the fill plug in the side of the pan removed while the engine is running. should drip out if full. must be filled the same way.

It could be (and that would be a gift if it is), but unfortunately I don't think it's going to be source of your woes.

so it drives normal if you manually shift it in gears 1,2, and 3? It's only 4th gear that spins free?

there was a problem in 05, a mismachined case, there gets small metal fillings stuck in the shift solenoid screens, try disconnect the battery, or change the shift solenoids
