07 Power Convertible Top Stuck
I searched the forum but couldn't find a similar problem.
Today I removed the radio bezel to be painted the body color of my 07 convertible.
I lowered the power top to let in some light while I worked, but I left the fiberglass cover raised. I don't know why I didn't lower it completely.
My car is an automatic and I needed to take it out of Park to maneuver the bezel so I turned on the ignition without starting the car and moved the shift lever out of the way.
I shut off the ignition but quickly tired of listening to the bong, bong, bong and DIC message ordering me to put the car in park.
My solution was to disconnect the battery. I think I may have done that with the ignition turned on.
Got the bezel out, reconnected the battery, but the top now won't operate, up or down.
I made sure the parking brake is on but no good, the top won't operate.
I'm also getting a message on the DIC that the top isn't secure.
I'm assuming I've gotten something out of sync.
I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery a few times, hoping things would reset to no avail.
The good news is the car is garaged for the winter.
Should I release the hydraulic pressure and operate the top manually to "reset" the limit switches?
I don't think that having the switches disconnected for the 4 way flasher, heated seats, cigarette lighter, traction control and aux 12 volt outlet should affect the top operation.
Does anyone have any experience this problem?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

When you disconnect the battery, or it goes dead, you have to re-index the windows. The power top won't work until the windows are indexed.
Index procedure:
Get in, close the doors
Start the car or turn on ignition
Raise the windows all the way up and HOLD the switches up for 3 seconds and release.
Hold the switches up again for 3 seconds and release.
Done
I recommend you re-index again after you get the top fully up and locked so that the windows are properly against the weatherstrip.

Rick, thanks for the quick reply and advice.
My car is stored away from my home, so I need to make a special trip.
I'll index the windows if it ever stops snowing here and let you know the results.
