Default seat swap

I posted this question over in general discussion but got very little response. Maybe someone here can give me the information I am looking for.

I have found the used 08 ZO6 that I want but there is one minor glitsch. The car, as equipped, has the 2LZ package and back injuries necessitate a power lumbar support for me. This is available only with the 3LZ package and thererin the question.

Can the 3LZ seats be swapped into the 2LZ car and are the necessary wiring connections in place on the 2LZ car to make everything on the 3LZ seats work? My suspicion is that the wiring harness' are the same on all ZO6's and I will only need to plug the 3LZ seat in to an already existing connection. Is my assumption correct? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have an 08 3LZ and it does not have the power lumbar supports. I know the 2010 3LZ provided a power passenger seat but the seats still may not have the power lumbar. There is a thread in the C6z forum by a member who installed 3LT seats in his Z. You should be able to use search to find it.

I don't know what the seats currently in the car you're looking at have/don't have because they've changed the seat features for different trim levels throughout the years.

I do know that for a 2010 or newer Z06
  • 3LZ got power passenger seat
  • 3LZ got the adjustable lumbar and side bolsters
  • heated seats on 2LZ, 3LZ

I think you have two possibilities. One is to just add a lumbar support bladder, and the other is swap in a seat that has not only the lumbar support but also the adjustable side bolsters.

Here's a link to a thread where lumbar support bladders are put in the seat:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...-supports.html

However, if you want to more fully upgrade the seats to include the side bolster adjustability, I think it would be easiest to just find a seat with those features and put it in. Does your 2LZ have memory, heated seats, and side airbags?

I had a 2005 C6 before I got a 2006 2LZ Z06 (2LZ was the top trim level in 2006). The 2005 had a power passenger seat and the adjustable lumbar and bolter support on both sides, but the 2006 Z06 didn't. The first thing my wife said when she got in the Z06 was "how do I adjust my seat, and where's my lumbar support adjustment?"

So, I added a pair of seats from a C6 that had those features. I swapped my Z06 seat skins onto the the C6 seats, then it was plug-n-play for the driver's seat and an easy job to just add one wire for power for my wife's passenger seat because I didn't have OnStar so didn't have to relocate the box from under the passenger seat. Take a look at these links:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...for-a-z06.html

and here's Ray's site:

http://www.kawal.net/power seats.htm

So, I'm not sure what your current seats have but if they have the memory feature, heated seats, and side airbags then I think you could get a driver's seat from a high trim level C6 that has those features and I believe it will plug-n-play. Or get a pair to upgrade your passenger seat to all those features as well!!

If you do get a pair of seats from a C6, make sure it's a 2006 or newer - the 2005 had an entirely different passenger airbag on/off system. If you're just doing the driver's seat, I think any year should work.

Good luck, and let us know what method you take to upgrade your seats!!

Bob
