Just got another FOB on that other site. What is the procedure for programming?

There is a "short" and a "long" programming procedure, depending on what you want to do with the new FOB.

If you just want to "add" the new FOB "in addition" to your original #1 and #2 FOBs, making the new one either #3 or #4 depending on how many you had before, then you use the "short" programming procedure. Adding a FOB this way makes it usable for getting into and running the car but it won't access the driver's memory settings, if your car is so equipped.

If you want to make the new FOB a replacement for an original #1 or #2, then you have use the "long" programming procedure. When you do the long procedure you erase ALL existing FOB programming. So make sure you read, understand and follow EXACTLY the programming steps or you may end up with nothing that works. And just a caveat for the long procedure, when you start out, make sure the existing FOBs are far, far from the car. Often times just being out of the garage isn't enough.

So here are the procedures. Again, read and understand what you are going to do before you try to do it.

Thanks, I will just be adding another FOB. I have a #2 and will add a #1. So the short way will be what I use. Thanks again and remember to keep it between the ditches!!!!!

NO, NO, NO. You can't use the short procedure to add a #1 or #2. You have to use the long procedure to do that.

Correct. Using the short procedure will add the fob as #3 or #4 depending on how many fobs are currently programmed to the car.

It is possible, but unlikely that someone before you did the long procedure, wiped out the fobs and then re-programmed only one. There is probably a fob out there somewhere that is programmed to your car. It may be at the bottom of a drawer somewhere, or at the bottom of a lake somewhere but it probably is out there. It is easy to tell though. You can try the short procedure and watch what fob number the car asks for. If it asks for fob #3, then that means that it has 1 and 2 programmed to it already. It will always ask for the next available programming slot following the ones that it has filled already.

One thing that we know for sure is that when the car left the factory, it had 2 fobs programmed to it.
