I have been noticing a problem with c6 2005 drivers side window. Window started to stop 3 -4 inches from top. It did go down fine but could not get it to close all the way. When door shut it indexed up a quarter inch as normal but still inches short from top closure. Today tried indexing solution but that did nothing to fix the problem. I did hear click and then let window down. Now window will not raise at all. It tries to move but seems stuck.
I have read about removing door panel but need help in trouble shooting.
We have a cruise planned and need assistance, thanks.
Just to cover the basics, when you do the indexing, the door is closed, yes?
Try indexing DOWN and UP. Same process for DOWN, just hold the switches down for 3 secs, release and hold down 3 more secs. Then go directly to the UP index procedure.
If that doesn't work, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. It worked for others and doesn't cost so worth a try.
If that doesn't work, "might" be a bad door module requiring dealer replacement. Let us know.

Door is closed, tried indexing. Window raised 1/4" after down, would not come up more than 3/4" from full down position. Just now disconnected battery.
Not yet. Just for grins, check the wiring connectors under the driver's seat. Wiggle them and just make sure everything is securely connected.
After that, I'm thinking the Door Control Module might be bad. It has come up before, lots on C5's. I don't know where it's located, so ask here or probably in another thread for someone to help you locate it. Or let the dealer do it. Sorry it wasn't easy.
Edit: Or obviously you can take the panel off to check the motor/regulator. Your choice.

Tonight I removed the door panel and can not see or hear anything other than it must be cable bind that causes the motor to stop after less than an inch of travel. Power is getting to motor but when it starts up it stops in up position after 3/4". In down it goes all down and cuts off as normal. If glass was removed would the regulator still bind as a test that cable or guides are at fault?
Appears electrical, switch and motor are ok. Anyone ever repaired the cable or regulator?

Hello, all. I've been having strange issues with my '05's driver's side window. I've re-indexed the window probably fifty times and also replaced the exterior door pad since I've read it can cause problems. I've been unable to resolve it and I'm starting to run out of ideas...
Let me try to explain the behavior. The window always indexes down when I open the door, but when I close the door it does not index back up. Sometimes when it indexes down that becomes the new 'up' position... when I close the door, it does not index up as it should but when I re-open the door, it indexes down even further. Also, last night I re-indexed the windows before I went to bed and everything was working properly. This morning, I walked out to the car and opened the door... it indexed down, but not back up when I closed the door again. Nothing changed other than the car sitting overnight.
I've even disconnected the battery and re-indexed everything hoping that would help, but nothing has resolved the issue...
And the fix:
I took the car to the dealership today and the service tech found a loose connector on the DDM. He re-seated the connector and all appears to be functioning correctly now. Everything else checked out okay...
This doesn't appear to be a common problem, but I figured I'd post the solution in case anyone else experiences a similar issue.
Something to do with the door module (driver door module maybe?). That's what it says on the service ticket anyway...
The tech had to pull the door panel to find the issue. Wish I could have taken some pictures to share...
I've had this happen on both of my windows in the last six months. The dealer replaced the regulators on both of them. It seems to be a fairly common thing on the 2005's. I have the GMPP and it payed for it.
New regulator and motor fixed window, but now it is the door not opening and window will not go up or down, new door switch did not work, is it a DCM problem. Is there a bench test for this? Is this a plug and play part?
