Default Header Questions/Problems

Hi all,

Was installing my headers and x pipe yesterday afternoon (2008 base) and I lost a bolt on the exhaust manifold bolt . It fell down along with my wrench and the old manifold (on ramps, so only 15 in drop), so there was a lot of metal clanging and I did not hear exactly where the bolt went. I have looked for it for 2 hours, I even hit the engine compartment with compressed air to see if I could knock it loose, but no dice. I am gonna bite the bullet and buy a new bot or set of bolts but can not seem to find a place, anyone know where you can get odd parts like this?

I also had a random part fall of while I was removing my passenger side manifold, it is GM part 10347347 and upon googling that I found out it is a "wiring harness shield". Anyone ever dealt with this part? No idea where it goes as it was not bolted in. I am trying to figure all of this out before I start putting this back together

By the way, checked belts, suspension, and the exhaust out ont he engine and the bolt is not there, so I am not really worried about the bolt showing his face later, I really think it just rolled somewhere that I will see in a week or two.

Thanks!

That wiring harness shield has been discarded on many a header install. I have mine and never have been able to put it back in right. It serves no purpose. Besides, the added weight probably robbed me of a few horsepower!

I, like yourself and most, don't drop alot of bolts but I would get yourself a telescopic magnet and not put it back together until I found it. Sorry, not the answer you were looking for. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Mcmaster Carr, you can buy just about any bolt if you can not find that one. Usually get the parts next day if ordered before 2 o'clock.
