My car wont open from the inside. It opens fine from the outside but once inside the driver and passenger side wont open using the normal door button. The windows drop 1/2 in like they should when i press the button but when i let off they roll right back up? I can also hear a click from down at the fuse box ea. time the door actuator is pressed. For now I've been using the manual pull on the floor but its kinda embarrassing giving someone a ride and having to explain.
any help would be appreciated.
After having the battery disconnected for an hour I reconnected and the doors worked fine.....for about 1min! I indexed the windows and it was back to the same thing? ANY ideas?
I found the answer I think, only time will tell for sure.
The problem was the inside door opening push buttons not working. Willing to try anything, I took off the outside door handles to clean them but as soon as i opened one of the switches up it had several small pieces of metal hair like steel wool or something making contact. They looked like someone tried to clean them with steel wool! I picked ea. piece out with a magnifying glass and tweezers, reinstalled and all is/seems fine.
Am I the only person to have an entire thread to myself? haha
I'll add to it. You mean someone used something like steel wool, or could these be shavings from ????? BTW, are you the original owner?
I'm not the original owner, I've only had it for about six weeks. Only one owner before me with all service records. It was traded to a Mercedes dealer and then I bought it. I couldn't imagine a Merc tech doing that?
Maybe the original owner "fixing" it up for trade in, his warranty had run out 1500 miles BEFORE he traded??
Yeah, that sounds likely. Still, steel wool shavings---that sure is unusual to use. Hopefully it's repaired for good, but just note there are not infrequent problems with the door pads, so don't be surprised if it happens again and you need to replace them.
