That's true, but I do believe that the original poster is actually looking for an aftermarket shifter/entire linkage assembly such as B&M or Hurst or something (and not just a new ****). I just don't think that those can be made to work (or would even provide any advantages) on a modern electronically controlled automatic transmission.
I've seen those kits before and have even considered getting one for my Z28 so I could use a nicer shift ****, they're pretty cool.
But that does now have me wondering what has changed on the automatic's shifter for 2010 as it says you can use it on the 2005-2009s but not on the 2010s (and later I assume).

Yea, that's why I think its just the ****.
They said the A4 is easier to change out than the A6.
Not sure why 2010 would be any different since it's still the A6.

Hitting neutral in an automatic C6? I mean.. either you have it in D or S... or you aren't moving forward. You hit the gas, the car goes...
How are you overstepping a gear and going into neutral??
I believe he is talking about shifting the automatic much like one would do in an earlier generation muscle car or even a converted late model car (F-body, Mustang, even Corvette) with a TH350 or TH400 transmission where one might install a Hurst Quarter Stick or B&M Hammer shifters or similar in place of the stock shifter assembly.
There are C5s and C6s that have set ups such as that (check out '4DRUSH' or 'atomicfusion' for examples) but it's not at all common and is generally totally unnecessary unless you're running well into the 9s or quicker.
Living where I do with all the mountain roads. I use it like a manual. Due to being hurt when in Iraq and a bad motorcycle wreck, I am unable to manage a manual any more. Leaveing it in drive when playing on tail of dragon and other roads, it shifts way to much. So I use 1st and second and 3rd alot. So going up and down I tend to overstep sometimes.

That's way beyond me
I figured I was probably misunderstanding.

Sorry to hear that
Is your car stock / how much power are you putting down?
So you're using the paddle shifters and you're hitting it twice and either jumping from 2nd to 4th, or say downshifting from 4th to 2nd?
I never had that happen to me, not really sure I'm following 100% still
I should have stated what I have first. My fault. I have a stock 05 really. Just a K&N cai and flowmaster. Waiting on my tune from ecs. I am going to do more. Just taking baby steps. So with having a a4 I have to use the shifter. Would be so much better if I had the a6.
