Hello Everyone, Need some help. I just got my 3rd Corvette, but I'm having a problem that I've never experienced. I'm having problems shifting into reverse. I thought maybe the shifter was bad so I ordered an MGW short throw, but the problem is now worse. Don't get me wrong the shifter between 1-6 gears is working better than before, but now I have to use two hands to shift it into reverse. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like the reverse solenoid lockout fuse has blown. look in your manual for its location.
also check and make sure it actually hasnt been disconnected. some people do it accidentally when installing a CAGS defeat switch
Since it's easy to do, I suggest checking the Reverse Lockout fuse in the engine compartment. It's #13, 25 amp. Frankly I don't know if a blown fuse would cause your symptoms but like I said it's easy to check.
If that's okay then here's a thread on DIY replacement of the Reverse Lockout solenoid:
Thanks everyone, I'll start with the fuse today and if not I'll be taking the car to the shop toom and get the sylonoid checked out. Based on the links you've sent me sounds like this is the problem. Thanks Again
Hello Everyone, I wanted to thank each of you for your recomendations. I took the car to Maximum Velocity here in San Antonio and they found that the reverse lockout soloneid was disconnected. Anyway the car is now fixed and I got a new MGW shifter out of it....
If the solenoid is disconnected you can still force the trans to go into reverse? It makes it tough to get into reverse or prevents it?
My car has always faught me going into reverse. I had the trans removed and built by Cartek and it still did it. They said it was my shifter. I also got an MGW and it still does it. I have to shift 3rd to 4th and then it goes into reverse.

Same here except I hit 2nd then reverse, works every time, is second nature now.
Hmmmm......when I hear someone say that they have to shift into first/second/...... before shifting into reverse, makes me think of synchros, or lack of. I had to shift into first before I could shift into reverse in my Mustang because there were no synchros in reverse.
