The dealer replaced my harmonic balancer about a month ago (18k on engine). I was looking at my engine today and it seems the balancer is wobling again. Any ideas why this problem would happen again?
If it was damaged from the first pulley. My 05 coupe had the crank pulley fly off and it destroyed the crank snout (where the pulley sits against the crank). That was a bummer but my dealer took care of me pretty well. I have a thread about it somewhere of you feel like searching. I believe the title was "crank pulley flew off tonight wtf"
took my car yesterday to the dealer for same issue at 40K miles, before going to dealer a performance shop mechanic told me a little wobble is normal, but mine was really bad, he told me I was lucky the belt was on. Still waiting to get my car back.
I've got "wobbly balancer syndrome" and the dealer is unaware of the pinning procedure. Does anyone have the GM repair info so that I can provide it to them?
They say, (per my VIN), that I'm out of warranty/recall range so I have to pay the $1,000 repair bill.

A little wobble is normal. If you indeed have a bad harmonic balancer, go to a reputable corvette/speed shop in your area and have them do an under drive pulley. for the same price, you might as well get the extra 5-10HP for it. (Just my opinion, as that is what I did).
Now, as for $1000 from the dealer, that is much too expensive. A shop that knows what they are doing should be a few hundred cheaper than that!!
There are a few threads on this topic that helped me.
I noticed some wobble of the balancer and was able to tighten up the bolt a little with a 24mm end wrench to get to the dealer/stealer. The pulley was about to fly off.
This is actually the second dealer I went to. The first one did not even open the hood for 7 days and was clearly incompetent. The second dealer now has my car.
I will gladly accept donations to my Vette repair fund since I was dumb enough to trust the reliability of GM products and did not get the extended warranty.
If I drove my car harder, this would have happened years ago...and maybe catastrophically.

This car is meant to drive hard. Many people on this forum race thier cars often. The harmonic balancer is just one of those things, but not too serious.
I would go get the car and go to a reputable Corvette shop. There may even be a sponsor of this forum in your area.
Good Luck!
