reading the threads - yes, i've searched - no conclusive benefit to replacing stocker with K&N or CAI for that matter on LS3 (at least that's my interpretation of the numerous threads). True or False? If false, what's been your experience with the LS3 and any data to back it up other than SOTP? Thanks
Obviously you need to find someone with a dyno sheet done before and after and with only this mod being the difference, if not SOTP. If you searched then you know that there's not much if any difference between the LS7 and the LS3 air intakes. When I went to the Airaid on my LS3, I didn't even get a SOTP difference. Had I known this from the get go I could've saved $250. The stock LS3 intake works very well. The Snake Charmer may be the only one that really makes a difference.
OP cut the shourd and call it a day....you get the cold air and that is what you really need.....If you have to spend money get a drop in zr1 filter or K&N drop in...They are like 100 bones..
I like the K/N Filter after I put it on and reoiled it to the outer part of the filter only I did feel a diffrence with throttle response and believed pickup some horsepower. From the factory they drence that filter so I cleaned it again and re oiled just the outside.
Jegs has the drop in K&N on ad and it's the same price at Summit.
I'm pretty happy with the stocker. I had an SLP CAI when I bought the car, I went back to stock. I think most CAIs on an LS3 without tuning just lean out the car a bit.
The only difference I felt (which maybe was just in my head?) was a smoother acceleration (after going back to stock). Maybe I was experiencing turbulence with the CAI? I dunno, from all indications the LS3/LS7 stocker is quite good.

Like someone has mentioned.....do something to get some cool air to the intake. Maybe a Bee-hive to keep the engine heat from getting to the filter. I would not do anything else with a stock engine.
