Good morning----I was just curious if it was necessary to purchase the new bushings for the lowering bolts to drop my vette? Can I just cut the existing ones off and be done with it?
You don't have to cut the bushings to lower the car just so you know. You can lower the car 3/4" or so with just adjusting the bolts. Cutting the bushings will give you about another 1/2" roughly.
*Measurements are best guess as I don't recall off the top of my head
If you cut the bushings you do not need to replace them with anything. Cut them off and that's it.
I just lowered mmine as much as the stock bolts would allow. I didn't cut the bushings because I like the way it looks. You might wanna try just lowering it before you cut. Thats what I did and couldn't be happier.
I lowered mine at first as low as the stock bolts would allow, it wasnt low enough. I lowered it with a set of replacement lowering bolts for 40 bucks and it is perfect now. Cutting the bushings would achieve the same result.
I've read that some people get noises after cutting their bushings. Anyone here have issues?
Yeah if you cut off all the rubber completely. I left a slither of rubber there so there was no metal on metal contact. That's clear when you look at the design of it.

Ha Ha! What I heard was that the people that cut their bushings eventually had them wiggle themselves out and cause grinding.
