Default front license plate

I had to purchase a license plate adhesive plate holder, ran about $120 installed by the dealer. Wonder why well, pulled over and given a ticket.

After one week the plate is falling off. I will be taking it back to the dealer but has anyone else had problems with this type of mounting?
Thanks,
Bob

I assume you mean the standard GM front plate bracket and yes others have had them fall off due to the double side tape not holding. Some dealers resort to using screws. I would strongly suggest you consider a Top Flight Reproductions plate holder as being more attractive. It also mounts with double side tape but I have yet to have a problem after almost three years on two separate cars. The removable model has a plate that mounts with double side tape. The "L" shaped bracket then mounts to the plate with two wing nuts to allow convenient removal and intalling as your needs dictate. Easier for you to check their website than for me to try to describe the design here. Many of us on the forum use the Top Flight unit.

The Top Flight bracket is the best way to go!

Don't let them drill holes in your bumper.

I went with a show and go holder that tucks away when you don't want it up and is up when needed. I like it a lot the stock one held and never came off till someone took my front bumber off though.

Check these out. I was getting harassed by Austin Pd over not having a plate. They actually dispatched 3 cruisers over not having a front plate and driving in the wrong part of town. I got one of these because I think a front plate on a vette looks like crap.

The dealer placed a second bracket on car at no additonal charge. It lasted one week then fell off in my garage. I was lucky it fell off in the garage and not on the highway. I ordered the topflight bracket and frame. Twice as expensive as the GM but if it works well worth it.
Thanks,
Bob
