Default Brake Replacement

I was looking to replace the rotors and pads on both the front and back of my '05 C6. What would yall recommend as far as being good for street driveability plus a little bit on the performance side but I would prefer not a lot of squeking.

Thanks in Advance

To minimize squealing and dust many have switched to ceramic pads.

You can get them from GM (probably the least expensive), Hawk and Carbotech (sponsor) (most expensive).

Here's a description from Carbotech on their ceramic street pad as an example:

Super simple and cheap solution here.

Go to your local napa or discount auto parts store and get their house brand ceramics. They work great, no dust! Mine have 50k miles and are still going strong.

Check the thread below on the super fast way to change them. My instructions with pics by someone else.

You can use a quality Raybesto rotor or Napa for cheap and the Carbotech 1521 compound. This set up will give you a step up in performance and will last twice as long as any other mfg.

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I use AFX rotors and stock pads and am very happy. The AFX rotors are very lite and last a long time.

I'm getting ready to install slotted / cross drilled rotors from Fourm Vendor TPS Mak ( $239.99- for all 4 wheels -no shipping charges ) and GM ceramic pads ( all 4 wheels ) I got from Fourm Vendor Parts Taxi on sale for $ 99.I don't track mine so this was my choice for the rotors and pads.
