Depends on the engine rpm. Normal cruising is around 40.

Would 55 psi be high while driving a curvy road but not aggressively driving? My car smells like its burning oil but all indications are that its operating normally. Oil is not low and all temps are OK.

That's exactly what mine runs using: M1 5W-30 with almost 50K on the clock and fully warmed up, even in 100* weather...I live in AZ.

The other person didn't say any of the particulars, but I think they do make some difference.

Depends on if the engine is a dry sump, like on some of the Grand Sports. When cold, mine pegs the needle at 80+ psi, then runs about 50 - 60 psi crusing when when warmed up. The wet sumps will run much lower.

Wet sump ls3 is pretty low compared to previous Chevy engines. A hair under 30 at hot idle is pretty normal. I have seen some cars get down in the teens on a road course with crazy oil temps.
