I personally have an A&A kit and i love it... Just like everybody said WOT its a beast otherwise real quiet and nice. It can be used as a daily driver as well.. Im happily making 575 rwhp 9-10lbs of boost with a blower and a long tube 17/8american racing headers..
500hp? Thats beyond easy. Buy a A&A or ECS basic kit, install it, tune it. Car will make 550rwhp all day long with a conservative tune with no other supporting modifications. Blower only....
I've been checking with a number of vendor sites and had personal conversations with several of them regarding supercharging. What comes up during our discussions is exactly what else do you need to achieve > 500 HP (07 Coupe w/stock LS2) when installing a SC system. I was surprised to hear that many of them suggested installs on an otherwise stock motor. No headers, no changes in stock intake, no cam swaps etc. Perhaps it's more of a budget issue than HP. If you want an extra 50 HP then go with the other additions. Any thoughts/comments on this route versus, headers, CAI and change in exhaust would be appreciated.
Where are you located. 500 at the wheels is attainable on a stock car with only the supercharger installed. No other mods are needed.
With my procharged 05 the stock kit made about 500 rwhp and was a blast to drive with decent traction. With a couple of mods I jumped to 550 rwhp and traction became much more of a issue. 500 to 550 hp is very respectable with not too much strain on the drive train. Most stock zo6 cars average about 450 rwhp and even zr1s are about 550 rwhp to put it in perspective. I also agree a centri or pd blower are great options at the ops desired power level.
Ford offered a Centi in 1957 and Studebaker a few years later when they wanted a supercharged engine option. Back then the only PD was a huge GMC blower that stuck up above the roof of the car.
A correction for historical accuracy is needed here.
There have been several manufacturers who built supercharged cars in the US, but I assume you're only refering to those post-WWII.
Ford did offer a McCulloch blower in 1957, Kaiser had one in 1954 and both Studebaker and Packard used one in 1957 and 1958. Studebaker also factory supplied the Paxton (same company as McCulloch) in 1963-4 on various models, most notably the Avanti.
S.Co.T also manufactured a PD blower in the 50's.
The GMC blower was used on the 2, 3, 4, and 6 cylinder engines in both the 53 and 71 cubic inch per cylinder sizes. The largest (in the 1950's) being the 6-71.
No GMC blower stuck above a normal car roof, but most protuded through the hood. I'm intimately familar with one that was totally under the hood.
