With the few people people around having water issues with Vararam, wouldn't you be able to add a waterproof/resistant fabric to lessen the possible risk and still have the great airflow? Obviously it'd need to be some sort of nylon or other material that wouldnt saturate once wet. I had a Halltech intake for my old C5 ZO6 that came with an airfilter boot to use as such barrier.

Just throwing an idea out there, but what about ordinary metal window screen material? If one layer is not dense enough, maybe 2 or 3 layers would knock the water down.

I was thinking the same thing... or any window screen material for that matter. I'd think one layer up top near the filter should do the trick. Its a long ways for heavy water to travel (speed dependant).

you can use the fabric screen material or metal but the metal can be formed to the shape desired and is stiffer. You also can use what is called hardware cloth. This is a metal mesh of various sizes.

I am not an expert but most "waterproof/resistant fabric' is directional, meaning the very design preventing water from penetrating it is going to prevent air as well.
K&N manufactures air filter wraps that are breathable and water "repellent" something such as this might help but has a very short life span of 1 to 2 years.

I don't see how a metal screen layered or not would block water any more than the filter itself.
