i have 78k on my vette and wanted to know if i should change the transmission fluid and rear axle fluid? i bought the car not long ago and do not know if it's ever been done? also when should i look into changing out the plugs etc...
Quick answer, under normal use the plugs and auto trans fluid are good for 100,000 miles. Manual trans doesn't need anything but many change the oil anyway whenever they feel like it, it "can" improve feel and performance.
whould you reccomend changing the rear end fluid? would performance plugs be better then oem spark plugs?
If it ain't broke to mess with it. Diff fluid "can be" an issue with some of these cars. If you aren't having a problem just leave it alone. OEM spark plugs are best for a stock car. Basically just follow the recommendations in the owner's manual, they're there for a reason......unless you have a specific reason to deviate.
Guess I should mention, since you don't know the history of the car's maintenance, generally the brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years (under normal use) and the engine coolant every 5 years with the recommended DexCool. So I suggest if you want to do anything for peace of mind, do those 2 things.
ok, big help. One more question. I am considering a cold air intake i was told vararam is the best for the money.... your thoughts? do i need to get the car tuned after that install/
