Default Outside Temp Sensor

Mine is pinned at 75 degrees. I wish it was that nice out here in Mass!
Anyone else had this issues? Is sensor bad?
Thanks

75 degrees is what the circuit reads if the sensor is not working. You can completely unplug the sensor and it will read 75.

Before replacing the temp sensor, you may want to manually reset the temp sensor by pressing the following three buttons at the same time:

Rear Defrost (right most climate button)
Front Defog (2nd right most button)
Fan Speed Increase (4th right most button)

This will force an immediate update of the temperature display. This will clear the problem if the temp sensor is working properly. If not, most likely a new sensor will be needed. It's a $10.00 part.

Where do people find info like this? It's not in the owners manual!
Your info is great !
I just got frustrated looking to re-cal the tpms ; the owners manual says go to dealer. I found the process here on the forum. Oh well!

Standing on the passenger side looking down along the black plastic shroud in front of the radiator you'll see the connector. There is a plastic push pin holding it to the shroud (I have a tie wrap there in the photo) and it can be a challenge to pull that pin. If you stick a flashlight into the front grill you'll see the probe protruding through the shroud.

So unplugging the connector you're pointing to will make it read 75 until faulty sensor can be replaced ?

Here is a pic from the front with the bumper removed.
The sensor is held in there with a push pin.
Here are the top view and side view.

Sorry to kick this topic.
I had the same error so a bought a temp sensor. And today i wanted to replace the one that is not working.

So i went to take a look at the location the sensor should have being in.
The part ( plastic ) were it should be mounted on is empty.

And there is no cable close to it. Now i know i have bought a car with front damage.
I think the previous owner fix the front and didn't know where that part should be placed.
and put the wireloom somewhere else. Can somebody point me out where that cable starts in the engine bay?or even better from what part of the wireloom is it splitup . So i and try and find it some where in the car :-)

Hope some one can help me.

In the pic I posted above, you will see that the wiring loom goes towards and under the passenger fender liner. At that point, the wire for the outside temp sensor (OTS) comes from a harness splice. In order for you to determine where the wiring is for the OTS, you would have to remove your passenger wheel, the wheel well liner to get access to this location. Once access is available, you will likely find the wiring for the OTS either hanging, or tied up.
Here is a diagram of the S-102 Spliced Harness for the passenger side equipment

Good Luck

Here is a pic of the actual wiring behind the wheel well liner and where the wiring goes from the splice point in the harness.

old thread, but I want to say thank you!! I recently had my front bumper off (umpteenth time) for adding a larger oil cooler and when reinstalling, my big 4"grill mounted brake ducts knocked off the connector. A quick search found this info here and all's good. So, thanks

Thanks to the contributors on this thread. I would have never been able to solve issue without the photos.

For those who bought used C6’s, if your temp is acting up, check and make sure the sensor is actually plugged in. Mine was not even plugged in and the sensor was inside the radiator duct area. Apparently someone had removed the front clip and didn’t put things back together correctly and just screwed it all together all jacked up. So I had to partially remove clip, and I was able to get the sensor out, put the tab it mounts to on the outside of the that radiator shroud. Like it appears in the pics above. I sprayed some contact cleaner on both the sensor and the plug, plugged it in, and wah la, it works fine. So before ordering a new sensor, investigate if it’s just unplugged. I couldn’t even see mine bc it was on the opposite side of the shroud,so I thought it was missing. Anyhow, thanks again for sharing those pics.
