The clutch ingages smooth and go through the gears other then 2nd kinda hard.. I was at the strip when I luanched and its was really hard to shift to 2nd. The next pass it wouldnt go n 2nd at all n just made a loud horrible grinding noise. since then it shifts into 2nd smooth at 10 mph and at 15 it grinds n jerks and after that It wont period. I tryed doing the double clutch thing and didnt work.. now I kno the 2nd gear isnt striped cause i luanched it n 2nd and cont to the red line and no issue... I heard its 1 of 2 things... might b low on fluid (praying for it) or the 2nd sycronizer...... Im going to get into it this weekend and check it out... I found that you can only buy sycronizers bye a set.... like 1&2. I found a set for 199$. I'll take pics and let you guys see how to do it so you'll b able to do it bye ya self. It be my first time tearing into a t56 so it'll be interesting and if there's any guys that done this before some advice will be well appriciated
When I had a cracked blocker ring the tranny wouldn't shift into 3rd at all unless you JAMMED it and then it ground and went in. Doesn't sound like your problem.
Here's what blocker rings look like. They're not supposed to be cracked in half like this.
Problem is, I watched a guy rebuild a friend's transmission, unless you're an expert in it, its hard to tell what's good and what's bad unless it's really broken (like stripped or cracked). He showed me worn parts, and new...and I couldn't tell the difference. No way I could have told if a shift fork was bent.
That said, I'd bookmarked these threads and websites when I was going through all of this. Maybe this will help you.
yea man I havent tryed jamming it... mainly cause I would hate to do that to my vette.... but yea it'll go into gear smoothly as long as its below 10 mph then after that... grind on... but your links are legit n thanks... save's me alot of time and hope it helps other guys out with this problem..

Happy to help. I knew those links would come on handy someday.
Btw when my blocker ring broke, it was my 2nd rebuilt tranny in 2 months and it broke with 1000 miles or so...and I was so mad it broke again I went ahead and finished the evening racing....jamming the heck out of it, and winning the Corvette Challenge....busted tranny and all!
ok so i just tried some new things..... just sitting still I can rev the engine to red line and put it in 2nd gear.... but yet if im going over 10 mph at 1k rpm its hard and impossible to get n gear without grinding past 15 mph. O and I was driving down the road at about 40 mph I tried to put it n 1st just to c if it'll go but it wouldnt go n 1st till i slowed down past 20mph
