My mark 4 pants offer more of a technical reading then any solutions in this thread.....
These same pants notice's when there is a smidge of mud on the balancer of my race truck at 5K rpm... You would be amazed at how accurate they are, they weren't cheap though, and the "kids GAP" sold out years ago...

I believe it goes something like this: Put in the new pulley with no balance weights (the pulley is a balanced unit) and cross your fingers.
