LS 376/480 cam in LS3 under warranty?
Sorry if this has been covered already, but I sifted through some thread titles and didn't see anything directly related to this.
My '11 C6 coupe is only 2 months old right now, so as much as I am tempted to start modifying and tweaking I do not want to sacrifice the GM warranty. I was looking over the GM performance parts site and came across the LS 376/480 crate engine. According to GM it is just a cammed LS3 with 480 hp. Does anybody know if a GM dealer would convert my LS3 by installing that cam and any other parts from the 375/480 and still cover the car under the 5 yr/100k mile warranty? Any guess at to what this would cost?
The other mod I was considering was a diablo tune. Since they advertise a 15-20 RWHP gain on the LS3, I was thinking that the 376/480 cam + that tune could get me 500 HP from my engine, given that I upgrade from the stock exhaust as well. Any thoughts on this? Or would that tune not apply with that cam? Does GM also tune the engine for more power? I am new to this and would not trust myself to tune it personally, but I would like to be able to get about 500 engine HP or about 450ish at the wheels, while still having it under warranty.
Thanks for the help on this.

Another forum member(I believe it was RLSebring) installed the complete LS3 480 HP crate engine in his C6. He did not like it. He then installed a Z06 cam in that engine and is now a happy camper.
If you change your cam, and/or change your tune, you lose your warranty if you have a major engine problem.

I think you're "thinking" wrong but I'm no expert.
Check these threads, especially posts 18 and 20 in this first one:

Thanks for the responses. If the actual GM 5 year warranty would not continue after camming it even at a dealer then I don't think I even want to go that route, at least until the warranty is at least nearly up. What can I do to up the ponies that will not void the warranty then? Can I even achieve the power numbers that I want and still have it covered?

One more question, would putting upgraded headers, air intake and an exhaust on it void the warranty? If I did this, could I still use the factory diablo tune or would it not apply with the new parts?

Any power mods will probably void your powertrain warranty. Intake, headers, tune, etc.

Any mod is going to require a "Tune" to get full performance. Any tune VOIDS your Powertrain Warranty once the Dealer sends the info from your ECM to GM.
The Powertrain Warranty is from GM, NOT the Dealer.
