What brand OIL do you use?
Personally I use Mobil 1 generally on the C6 because Walmart has great deals on jugs of it, but I've also used several others.
Your car won't break from using an oil other than one that is GM approved.
Main reason I'm thinking Valvoline is b/c a local shop here only charges $55/oil change for a vette plus every 7th oil change is free.

1) AMSOIL claims that you can go 25,000 miles or one year on an oil change. This claim seems unbelievable because it is. There is no way to verify such extravagant mileage claims without an oil analysis of your engine.
Imagine some trusting soul oil going 10K, 15K miles or higher on a new LSX engine with all that break-in debris mixed in.
Amsoil won't tell you it's well advised to change the oil in a new LSX early, or at least two 2,500-3,000 mile changes early in the engine's life using any modestly-priced synthetic oil.If you won't have your oil analyzed, the least you could do would be to Google "LS3 oil analysis" or go to http://www.bobistheoilguy.com
Otherwise, stick to the GM DIC oil monitor!
2) Amsoil is a MLM (Multi-Level-Marketing) program, which highly inflates the cost of their products. What Amsoil does offer can be beaten in price vs performance by over the counter oils like Mobil1 and Pennzoil. If you are going to insist on a "boutique" oil, at least consider Redline. You can pick it up locally or from several Internet sources, including Amazon for a decent price.

I was able to order their top of the line motorcycle oil for about 7$ a quart after shipping on their preferred program. The oil would literally show up the next day if I ordered before 2PM with standard shipping that was super cheap for the size and weight of the box.
This is compared with $12-15$ a quart for full synthetic motorcycle oil over the counter. The 12$ oil was Mobil 1, a good product, but almost impossible to find, so I often had to get raped at the dealer for the 15$ Repsol or Motul. All of those oils are top of the line though.
The neat thing about motorcycle oil, is its the transmission oil as well, when you change it, you are changing it for both systems. There is a noticeable improvement in shifting quality and ease when pulling out the factory dyno oil and putting in the full synthetic. I can say with full honesty that I never used an oil that exceeded Amsoil in this regard. My bikes shifted like absolute butter with it in there.
100%Price versus performance is a strictly subjective opinion...and I'd even agree if Mobil 1 or Pennzoil were only $2.00/quart, but they're not.
You can't state that one cannot truly judge an oil manufacturer's claims without doing a proper oil analysis and then go and state that over the counter oils that have consistently shown worse results (not bad results mind you, just not as stellar) than Amsoil in most of those test categories are just as good.
Ya can't have it both ways.
