Default FAST 102 on LS2 - map extension

I drilled the top for the map sensor, but it seems like it's about 3" too short to reach up there.

Where do I buy an extension?

Hinson Supercars.

Unfortunately, its about 12" long when you only need 1".

If you know how to solder wires than just make your own extension. All you need to do is go down to your auto parts store and buy the same gauge wire for a few bucks. Then just cut the wires, add the necessary length needed and solder it together. I don't like using but-connectors.

Same issue with mine but the gm tech just made his own extention and cut to the proper length then re wrapped with black tape looks like it was always like that.

Generally, its not a good idea to cut & splice any factory wire harness. Ask any electrical engineer.

I've never had a problem in doing so. I know that still doesn't mean it's the correct way of doing it but I don't see anything wrong with it. I just solder all my wires and never use butt-connectors.

I don't like the look of splices wires under the hood where people can see them. Makes me think "Oh, what did he do here?" The extension is cleaner looking like it was done by the factory.

If they don't have it, they will make it.

Is this something that is needed to install a Fast 102 on all LS2's? I just purchased a Fast 102 to install on my 2006 C6. Is this something that I need to do as part of the install?

Well, it depends.....

The stock LS2 has the MAP sensor installed on the passengers side front of the intake manifold. The FAST intake has the MAP sensor bung in the rear but is also designed for you to drill a hole in the top just behind the throttle body. But if you mount it there, the connector is about an 1.5" short One solution is to purchase the extension harness which is what I did. This harness seems to be designed long enough to also route the MAP wiring to the rear of the intake manifold. My FAST 92 has a bung back there but FAST provides a rubber plug to seal it up. I suppose you could relocate the MAP to the rear and use the extension harness then you don't have to drill a hole in the top front.

Another solution I have seen posted here is to drill a new hole in the FAST around the same location as the stock manifold which the stock connector will reach then fabricate a hold-down bracket.

I did email them - they are actually local to me, so I'm hoping they can make something less obnoxious. The one they have is something like 26" long.

I know what you mean. I've looked under hoods sometimes and found nothing but electrical tape to make a connection. Then people wonder why electrical fires start. LOL

I like to make it look factory. After soldering the wires I always shrink wrap them and add wire loom just like the factory.

Ok, so if you change to an LS3 top end on your LS2 and use a FAST intake for an LS3, do you need an extension?

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread.

Thanks!
