Stock C6 LS3 at Mojave
Yesterday I ran a 166.2 MPH in my 2008 automatic. Only modifications done is the addition of the Corsa Sport exhaust other than that is bone stock. The car has a little over 22K miles on it and I ran on the original tires.
After this run we removed the tape we placed over the seams and with a slight headwind we did a 165.2 MPH.
Not bad for a stock car that gets over 25MPG

Congrats on the good speed. I wondered what a stock LS3 would do and know I know.
Did they allow you to run in the SSE class?

This was my first time and I ran A1 class, I assume had I signed up for SSE I would have been OK since the only thing I had done was the cat-back exhaust.

One advantage I had was the automatic. I put in the sports mode and let the computer do the shifting. No worries about hitting the rev-limiter or missing a shift. Automatics can be an advantage some time

Really?? That's considered good??
I ran 160mph with a cam/headers/tune 2002 WS6 T/A. I hope that this is not the best a LS3 Vette can do in the mile, or I'll be severely disappointed!

There are enough ppl that have done 180+ in their Vettes, including a topic on this very board titled >"Those who have been to 186 MPH"< from 2005.
While I will concede it might require more than 5280ft to accelerate to the mid 180's, it does not signify that the stock LS3 Vette couldn't at least bust 170mph in the mile.

Your 166 MPH pass should have gotten their attention, so I'm curious how you managed a 165 later. Did they just issue a warning? Did they upgrade your license? Did they end up giving you the boot?
I had considered going, but I don't have all the equipment to meet the rules for A2 (150-190 MPH) and they'd most certainly boot me after the 1st pass in the A1 class.

My 2002 Z-06 topped out at 172 with the hiway patrol in chase!
A 2008 should make 190!
Ok I see where this is mile run. Thats pretty good!

Lots of questions, let me see if I can answer them all.
There was over 140 cars and motorcycles. Lots of C5’s and C6’s a few C4’s. I think the ZR1 ran about 178 MPH.
This was a standing start, Since I have an automatic I put in the sport mode and when given the OK to go I just put the pedal to the metal and let the computer do the shifting. At the end of the mile C6 had just shifted to 6th so I know there was still plenty left, I’m sure given the room I would have gotten to the high 180s.
This is a stock LS3, with the 4LT package so it had a little extra weight. The only modification is the Cat-Back Corsa Sport. The car has a little over 22K miles on it and I’m still running the original tires.
A1 class, they did not limit me to 150 MPH, how fast you can go is the cars tech speed which was 170 MPH, all I needed was a helmet, gloves and a fire extinguisher. Since this was my first time I had to do one run between 140 & 150 MPH. On my first run I was watching the HUD and it was showing over 155 at the ¾ mile mark so I let up and ended up cruising through the mile at 139.6 MPH. However, they did issue me the sportsman license. On My second run was when I hit 166.2 MPH. On my third run we removed the tape and put the mirrors back in the normal position and there was a slight headwind and ended up with a 165.2
It was lot of fun, here is a link to the Mojave Mile web site.http://www.mojavemile.com/
And here is a link to our clubs website where I posted photos of the run. THe run starts at picture 89, http://www.corvettesofsocal.com/copp...bum=104&page=3
