I programmed a new key fob for my car through the key in the trunk method. Fob works great. But once I did this my car has gone a little hairy. Every time I push the options button on my dash I get the message "Option Not Available" and I cannot figure out why.
That's the first time I've heard this one. Does the other fob have the same issue after you touch the associated memory button on the door? Your profile doesn't state what year/model you have so will suggest simply that if you are under warranty, take it to the dealer and have them connect a Tech2. It sort of sounds like something got hosed in the BCM during the programming sequence assuming you were not having this issue before the fob programming.

You programmed the new FOB using the "short" programming procedure which only "adds" that FOB to the car's memory as either #3 or #4, depending on how many FOB's were programmed before.
The problem is, ONLY FOB's programmed as #1 and #2 access the individual driver's memory settings and DIC options.
So, if you already still have FOB's #1 and #2, those are the only ones you can use to access the options. If you no longer have #1 or #2, then you "can" program the new FOB to replace the missing FOB but, you have to use the "long" programming procedure which ERASES all existing FOB's from memory and starts over. Using that procedure, the first FOB you program will become the NEW #1 (regardless of any number that may be stamped on the FOB case), the second FOB you program will become the NEW #2 (again regardless of the number stamped on the case).
