Default Drag pack ready for 10s!

It's been quite a task getting these wheels ready but I'm finally there. With limited painting experience I think they came out ok. Not really good but should work for a 1/4 mile pass.

I ground all the raised letters off the GTO spares and painted them black. Did not like those raised letters! Tried black front and rear first. Didn't work on the rear with the factory C5 Z06 factory painted silver wheels. To make a long story short had all four wheels media blasted and decided silver front and rear. Had planned on a gloss clear coat over the silver metallic. But with the silver metallic bare it will touch up real nicely without the clear coat. Probably not so easy with a clear coat. And I had planned for the mounter to put some scratchs on at least two wheels but none are to be found. So far no repairs required.

Tires are all new never been on the ground yet. 4.5-26.0-17 M&H skinnies up front and 275-40-17 Hoosier drag radials rear. All four wheels/tires weigh 133.8 pounds.

Now for some cool air. And that's not anytime soon but I'm ready!

Thanks guys! I'm hoping they will be worth something. Less weight has to be worth something though. Narrower front tires should have less drag as well as weight savings.

My original Gumby's with GY runflats weighed 217.2 pounds for the four. For anyone going from those to these an 83.4# reduction.

Also worth mentioning, the GTO spares has a smaller center bore and slightly smaller bolt circle for the studs. I very carefully bolted each up and allowed my factory steel hub to shear off the bore of each spare. The wheels were very tight. I then used my pneumatic sanding burr to clean up and open the holes for a nice close fit. The bolt circle is about 25 thousandts smaller. No problem if you bolt up very evenly. The studs apparenty will yield enough for the lug nuts end angle to center in each tapered hole.

Good choice of color for your CRM coupe. Here's a preview of how they'll look on your car.

This is an excellent point.

I ground down the hub of the wheel with my dremel and a burr until it fit nicely. I did it without screwing up the paint on the outside, so 8850 if you haven't done that yet, you still can if you're careful and you won't screw up the paint.

Nice combination.

We use a rule of thumb that every 100# is worth 1/10th of a second in ET.

Very nice.

Unfortunate for me though...I was hoping you'd get frustrated trying to get them ready and sell the skinnies to me!

I'll be picking up a set for the next racing season as well...unfortunately that doesn't start until the middle of November for us

We'll both be knocking down 10s come January 2012. I look forward to the Houston boys putting a little fear into the NJ guys Unfortunately we have such a ridiculously short racing season we have to make it count quick, but I think we'll get it done. I only got 2 passes this year after getting the FAST on

Definitely went through a difficult period getting these ready. Mostly with the painting. Had no idea the factory paint was this hard to cover.

The night when I ran my 11.22 I only got in three passes. We do have a difficult time here making passes and good air. But when we do watch out nation! LOL...

At this point Shawn how about ten grand for the whole set up! That's about how much labor and frustration I feel like I put into these things. I will let you borrow the fronts when we are at the track same night if you want to bring the necessary jacks and tools.

Lol...10 grand huh? Those are some serious labor rates

I'll definitely take you up on that offer to throw them on. Lord knows we'll both only get two passes anyway

Ha ha....we're going to try

You guys will maintain the LS2 bolton kings status, because I don't have the patience to not mod my car further for another year to try and get down into the 10s. 11.2 is as good as mine is going to get.

I'll be shooting for mid 10s with a good cam-only setup next winter.

I have no doubt...I was expecting to see a 10.4 coming out of your car this season, which I don't think I'll be able to compete with this coming year. I'm shooting for 10.6x...just enough to show that someone's trying

As my car sits I feel it would've run a high 11.0 or low 11.1 had I been able to get a set of skinnies and make more than 2 passes, but it wasn't in the cards.

I'm going to do what it takes to knock off .6 ET this year and then go from there. My buddy is going for the bolton only LS3 camaro record (he's .3 off right now without doing FAST, UD pulley or skinnies), so we'll be pushing each other pretty hard to get after it.

You complain about only getting two passes, but you get to do that every week. Us Phoenix guys have to get lucky for the one day we drive 750 miles to Sacramento to get the air you enjoy for a couple months.

Ha...fair enough!

This year we had a depressing season though. We seemed to have a lot of rain during the weekends. There were at least 4 cancellations on weekends I wanted to go racing.

i know its stupid to predict a number, but i am the only one who knows how much throttle i was giving to get traction, so i will be shooting for 10.1s,

Yeah, me too Dennis. But the difference is that I already know I won't get it.
