I put a Sears Platinum in four years ago and even after sitting for weeks without being started in the winter without a battery tender, it starts up every time.
My car lives in NY. Its a weekend toy. It can sit weeks at a time in an very cold unheated garage w/o starting or ever having a tender on it. Its an 06 car with the original OEM battery still in place. Every time I hit the button, it lights off. A GM battery will take its place when the time comes. I've never had such stellar service from any car battery in any car/bike I owned.

I agree...my Platinum has been in for about 18 months and has not let me down. I have gone as long as three weeks without starting and do not use a trickle charger. If I recall correctly...it has an 8 year pro-rated warranty and 4 years of free replacement.

Interstate or AC Delco. I haven't used the Optima gel batteries in a car but I had 4 of them in my boat and I got rid of them after 1 season. For the same CCA in a gel battery you need a larger battery. The only upside to the gel battery is they aren't damaged by total discarge and a normal battery can be damaged.
Battery died in my friends 2007 last July while we were on a Corvette overnight cruise. He installed a Walmart battery, primarily because we were in Ozark, AR (POP 3525) on a Sunday Morning and there was a Walmart and they had a battery in stock to fit his car, and they loaned him the tools to remove/replace the battery.
If he does need a replacement battery under warranty in the future, there is always a Walmart nearby.
My Optima Red Top has lasted over 100,000 miles and was installed 12/9/03. Still in use with a 60 amp RF draw hooked up to it as well as its other car duty duties. Stock alternator too.
Maybe they made them better back then?

There is an old Optima, and there is a new one. The company changed hands at some point around then.
After reading all the threads concerning replacement batteries for the C6, I opted just to stay with the AC Delco. I figured the old one lasted approximately 4 years, the new one should get me to at least the next new corvette when I trade this one in.
