Default Odd lifter noise

2007 C6/Bone Stock/ 10k / Driven weekly.

Today we decided to take the Vette out to lunch. It has not been started in about 7 days but today it made a odd noise. In the garage as I started it, I heard a very distinctive sound of lifter rattle but almost as soon as I heard it, it stopped. I would say that maybe 3 seconds then it stopped. I have heard this in other cars in the past but never the Vette.

I am thinking that purhaps the oil just drained off real good and it was just due to the lack of lube for the first couple of seconds. I hope that is what is was.. Its just odd that it happened when my routine is very fixed and I drive the car the same time every week.

To clarify, I am not talking about the sewing machine sounds, I have always had that. This is a loud fast tick, like several lifters were tapping. This was during the part of start up where the engine revs up slightly then idles down to normal.

what do you guys think... I dont worry about much but I tend to be critical of any issue with my fav toy.

I think your correct about oil draining off. BUT some oil filters can cause that also if the drain back valve in them is not working correctly or cheaply made. If you don't have a GM or PURE ONE and there are a few other quality oil filters you can get this noise. Even then its not anything to be alarmed about. Some oil filter drain back valve issues will cause lifter rattle for a second or two after sitting 2 days or just overnight etc.
