Why is eveyone making a huge deal. Its apparently done on a Mustang dyno that hasn't had the #'s corrected. We all know the Mustang Dyno #'s seem to be high all the time anyway. The gains are whats important if you ask me and those gains are perfectly normal with headers, no cats, and a dyno tune.

Historically mustang dynos have actually given lower numbers than dynojet dynos, not higher.

You are right about the gains being the important thing to focus on though. I just think the shop needs to get their dyno calibrated asap.

Thanks for setting me straight (open mouth-insert foot) I was strictly speaking about the gains. Thats really all I care about but I guess the shop knows the dyno is reading high since they do baseline and after dynos.

OK, well I also doubt that a previously tuned car would gain 42rwhp from just headers and a cat delete either.

Hey Guys,

Gary brought is car in and it was stock with just a honker, no tune. In my earlier post I agreed with everyone that it read high and even mentioned this to the owner of the car. I also explained that the gains is what is important and by his statement of how the car sounds and performs he is extremely happy. That is what I strive for.

To put this to rest I have contacted Mustang dyno to have a phone tech (don) call me to go over the entire setup procedure they installed again to make sure nothing got changed or altered. Please keep in mind, I rent this machine out to many other shops who sometimes adjust the computer for thier AWD needs etc. etc. We will go over the calibration for the eddy current and the main dyno software with a fine tooth comb to ensure everything is up to par and everyone gets a realistic number.

I have PMed the customer letting him know this and after the re-cal is completed offered to re-strap the car to compare. At the end of the day, the LG headers, Honker intake, and tune made the customer very happy with his Vette and that is what counts to me the most.

Thanks for the comments as everyone here is always extremely helpful and courteous. I appreciate that very much.

Thanks,

Jeremy Preston

No previous tuning was on the car. 40rwhp is certainly within the realm of reason

My posted gains were above tune only gains. After tune only, no mods, I saw 22 rwhp/tq gain, with the addition of the headers.

Just got re-dynoed at Horsepower Sales.
Final numbers are 419 RWHP / 431 RWTQ.

Eliminating the cats makes a big difference.
