Default HUD brightness vanishing

Hi,
I'm having a problem with the HUD in my 2008 LT3. The HUD worked great as I started but after shutting the car off for some hours it quit working. It is there but the brightness is too low at daylight. Next day it could be working again. I have seen a couple of posts in this forum regarding this problem but no real explanation of the solution. And yes, I have checked the + - buttons and so on. Any ideas?

Greetings!

The brightness and "elevation" settings for the HUD will be stored in the memory system, separate for each driver position/fob.

If you switch back & forth between fobs, or even have the other fob in the car, you might be getting the other "wrong" settings for the HUD.

The hud also has its own light sensor in it. If this sensor goes bad, there's not much you can do. I've not heard of one failing in a C-6 yet, but there have been some in the C-5's that have failed. If you are still under warranty, take it in.

Unfortunately no warranty, it was expired in february
Could be the sensor but the fact that the problem is intermittent is imo talking against defective sensor. At least I hope so, new HUD sounds expensive.
