I had my C6 Corvette stored in my garage this winter. I took it out about a week ago for a 20 mile run.
Today, I started it and heard what sounded like a lifter making a racket....clack...clack...clack...clack. .. It was very loud, so loud I thought I may have to tow it to the dealer.
I got scared and turned the engine off, restarted and the sound gradually went away. Today, upon starting I heard a faint trace of the sound, and then it went smooth and disappeared.
It's in the dealer now waiting for a first thing morning start.
What do I do when the dealer says he doesn't hear anything.

Change the oil and filter and it will sound like new.

Funny you said that - the oil service readout said 8% left...I changed the oil and filter and the sound did go away...but I wouldnt think the oil would affect it to that extreme.
