Default Heat exchanger

Anyone done a heat exchanger on there C6 for there oil. Here are the dimensions of the one I want:
Measures 10" long x 4" wide x 4.5" tall.

I am looking for ideas on where to put it and how you mounted it? Did you weld a plate or bolt it up? What kind of tubing did you use to go from radiator to heat exchanger to water pump?

Thanks
Ken

Default EOC Radiator

Why not go the simple and proven route and install a EOC equipped radiator?

Ron Davis and others make a good quality product, and they can help you with the required adapters and oil lines.

PM forum member "Wayne 0". He's in Tucson, but comes up here all the time to track his car.

I have a C&R heat exchanger but have not installed it yet. I'm not sure what to do about the water lines.

Will the large C6Z06 stand alone cooler not work good enough? I ran one on track and never had oil temp issues.

No, not enough cooling power, I hit 275 degrees 2/3rds the way thru a 20 minute session on warmer days. Could go with a Setrab #172 but I can get a heat exchanger at same cost, cheaper actually, so I might as well go for the better device that has way more BTU cooling power.

275' is pretty tame, the oil temp won't run the cooling fan on high until the oil gets to 302', and the hot oil message comes on at 320'. That, for our 20069 LS3.

Maybe run 0W-40 just for track days, if you want a bit more protection?

Well you have to remember that that light is assuming that you are driving normal too I would think. I do run a 15-50 oil to help but still don't like it. Running 300+ oil temps constantly at 3500 to 6700 RPM is gonna severly reduce engine life in my opinion, so why not be safe.

Found this stuff today called Vulco Flex® II made by Gates, looks promising for the coolant plumbing. Anybody ever use it?

I must be missing something. I just bought a Z06 cooler and the thing is huge. If that won't keep the oil cool, you have other issues.

I have never tried it but didn't want to waste the money if it didn't have the BTU power of a Heat Exchanger.
