Default Power by Cubic Inch

I'm doing a stroker motor, so I decided to average some results. Obviously I need more to do at work I put these numbers together without separating anything for setup. These cars have to have an aftermarket cam to be on the list (to exclude the near stock Z06s) I find it interesting... Feel free to add to the list.

SAE numbers:

416s:
TransAm2002 543 500
Pray 525 499

Yeah, most of the big cammed manual cars are running steep gears so I dont think its too far off between the two...

The bigger motors are making more power, not really that interesting...

It is interesting actually but it doesn't quite tell the whole story. The complete set up, plus manual or automatic, makes a difference. Plus dyno graphs would help tremendously. There are h/c LS3s making close to that power but the strokers should have a broader power curve. It could be an interesting list but you would have to be very thorough in the research and info.

Plus the price difference could be important to some. Would the extra horsepower be worth the additional price of the larger cubes?

It was interesting to me because I wanted to see what to expect after the swap.

It's all good

Very good point. I'd be more interested in the difference in trap speeds. I know trap speed is thought of as horsepower but that isn't necessarily true.

Is your car still at Cartek? What motor did you go with? If you said on one of your earlier threads I didn't see.

I was thinking it might be the Cartek car we were just talking about. Cool, I can't wait to see how it does as well.

Rick, do you think you could go into the list further and list whether the cars you listed have cathedral or L92 heads?

What are you in a dyno thread for, you only care about track results...

Justin, If I can get some time, I'll see if I can separate the ports and the Autos vs. manuals...

I like having the LS3 block as a base versus the LS7. That was more important to me than the 11-12 additional CI

I'd love to see your dyno graph John. My guess is the power under the curve is pretty damn impressive along with an early torque jump.

At my shop a guy did a 416ci Camaro and the low/mid-range tq was unbelieveable. He snapped a few axles to say the least.

Unfortunately the fast 92 cant keep up with a big cube motor so its for sale 700$ it has some nice port work done by Cartek. Im selling it because im upgrading to a fast 102. should have some updated dyno #s. shortly.
A special thanks to Julio and Cartek

kind of useless info without knowing the particulars of each build...... the power is made in the heads/proper combination....
Doesn't really tell the story of bigger cubic inches and power to money

we've seen 585 hp from a 408 and less from a 427 so the combination is really the key here
