While not paying attention(happens a lot recently) I scratched the heck out of my air breather housing on my Z06. I purchased a replacement but I read on this forum that the screws holding the MAF are special 5 point torx instead of the normal 6 point torx used elsewhere on the car. I've checked Harbor Freight and O'Rielly's for a 5 point torx driver to no avail.
You guys that changed out your air intake in your driveway, where did you find the 5 point torx driver? I think it's a #10, but not sure.
Sears has a tool that has multiple security tips including what your talking about. It's about $20 and is one of the most used tools I have in my tool box.
Thanks. I'm going to head back to harbor freight. I didn't find that set when I was there last week.
BTW, while doing a search on the web(after I made my initial post) I came across a post on another forum that said the 2006 Z06 and very early 2007 Z06's had the 5 point torx and the newer cars have the standard 6 point torx. Because I read on this forum about the special screws I assumed my car also had them. I guess I should get a 6 point torx bit out of my toolbox and see if does work. Might save me a trip and $10.
