Strictly bench racing, when this question come up it's almost universally the '02+ C5 Z over the LS2. Of course, in the real world, it can come down to driver ability.

Absolutely true.
The quickest bone stock C5 Z06s are in the 11.7/11.8 range at 116/117mph with some trapping as high as 118mph+.
The quickest bone stock C6 LS2s are in the 12.2/12.3 range at roughly 115/116mph.
When i had 1K on my stock 07 Z51 Coupe manuel, i raced my buddy who has a 03 Z06 with just a black wing air filter zero to 100 5 times on a back road no times to compare but he beat me all 5 times by 1 to 2 cars every time.
After about a year i put a few bolt ons we raced again 5 times zero to 100 and i put 1 to 2 cars on him all 5 times!

What about a 2008 & up C6 ?? How much better are they than a LS2---STOCK !!!
From experience (with equal drivers):
2008+c6> C5Z> 2005-2007 C6
My experience is the same.
The 03 ls6 has a bigger cam and I used to watch my buddy pull ahead of me on the big end every time with equal launches. The ls2 has essentially the 01 ls6 cam. And the c5z is lighter by 100+ lbs.
The hard as a rock runflats on the 05-07 c6's don't help either. There's around 5-6 lbs more rotational weight at each corner with the emt's. A good summer only tire like the nt-05 should narrow the gap a tenth or two.
Why is the '03 ZO6 faster then the LS2 Vette---??? almost same H.P.---does the ZO6 have more RWHP, than the LS2 ??
LS6 runs a little (barely) stronger. I think the factory tune is a little more aggresive. Also if the LS2 is not a z51, the Z06 has slightly deeper gearing.
I test drove both on the same day and what I came away with is they were both fast but a little different. The stock LS2 seemed a little lazier but torquier. The LS6 seemed to rev more urgently and pulled a little harder on top (a good match for the deeper gearing).
Again I think you would gain more from a tune on a Ls2 than on a ls6. just my thoughts...
