Was trying to install the radar detector blend mount today. Really a tight fit. Was pushing the mount up along the windshield and the darn mirror popped off.
Looked in my field manuals but did not find how to solve this. It almost looks like it takes a special tool to release the tension on the ring spring that locks on the mounting nut attached to windshield.
Place the mirror up to the windshield at about 30-45 degrees off horizontal, counterclockwise, push onto the stud and twist clockwise to horizontal at the same time.
It went back on just like you said. Finished mounting the blend mount and installing the RD. Thanks again for the help.

The real question.....
Are you ready?
Does the mirror NOW have a vibration when you drive? Are the objects in the mirror blurry now due to a vibration in the mirror mount?
When I took my mirror off and replaced it, the damn thing was loose and it took special metal pins to replace the stock pins as the OEM pins had bent and allowed a "slack" fit when it was reinstalled.
Thinking about this a little more, I don't think I will have the problem with vibration. When you install the Blend Mount radar detector mount it fits tightly between the mirror arm and the inner windshield which I belive will stablilize any vibration that may have occured due to the mirror popping off.
Da man! "bassspring" He has the super secret stainless steel spring pins.
Of course, now I'll have to kill ya since you know the super secret answer to the mirror problem.
I PM'd him and he sent me some pins. He needs to go into business on these things! He sent them free but I was a smart-butt and sent him some money to cover his very kind gesture.
