My 05 convertible will regularly display service column lock on the DIC if it is parked out in the heat all day. I had luck jerking the wheel back and forth a couple of times, today that did not work and i had to disconnect the battery three times to finally get it to work
The dealer pleads ignorance and says to just bring it in. THat is a waste of time as it works fine once it is started for the day if it is not hot and they will just say it is fine
I bought the car in October and had no issues all winter, this just started int he last month
What is the real solution to this, i see others with MN6 2005's had it but cannot find a solution Please help
Hey Robert, if you are going to replace your column lock pm me. I just did mine. I may be able to help you out. I am, by no means a mechanic but I got it done. I refuse to have a dealer work on my vette for a small fortune if it's something that I can do myself.
Had a new Saturn once that was fine all winter but in the late summer afternoons yoou could not get it out of park. Towed to dealer several times, it sat all night, and the dealer "could not duplicate" in the morning...when the car was cool. It was finally diagnosed as the BCM and, after replacement, it worked perfectly.
My 2005 mn6 has been good but I would be curious to hear of your resolution so I can file it away for future reference.
Just sayin...
There must be some way to remove this lock, and not have to worry every time you get in the car weather or not it will unlock and start. We don't really need to lock the steering. Need to come up with a permanent bypass.
