Also, there's no way you can hit 75MPH in 1st gear.
I Have a C6 2007 A6 paddle shift auto with a stroked 4.000 bore X 4.000 stroke LS2 twin turbos buld. I have the rpm limiter set at 8500 rpm, other wise..trans back all stock, I do about 93 mph in 1st gear! I can see 75 mph in first gear at the stock rpm limiter and yes the first gear not shifting for me every time I have wheel spin.. this has me starting in 2ed gear becuse 1st is a wast of time braking loss.. yes traction is a problem.

I've been able to over-ride the issue with some changes in my tune and using nothing but paddle shifts.

I'm at about 580 rwhp and never have the issue any more. Even with wheel-spin. I simpely shift before I hit 6000 rpm's.

If you watch your rpm's (even with the tires breaking traction) and shift with the paddles i'd like to see if it makes a difference? I can roast my tires 1st thru 3rd gear without hitting the rev limiter if I shift early enough. I quit using auto shift period. Probably not ideal for consistant times at the track, but it works very well for me on the street. Errr, I mean farm....

Can someone please tell me if I'm wrong, right, or there is NO right answer...

I have an 05 with an A4 trans, that I drag race.. It has a CAI & a Tune by Cartek..

I race this car as often as I can, and have "Driven a few (A6) Vetts some bone stock others with some mods to the engine, and one with a COW trans tune...

Bottom line I honestly like my A4 better than ANY A6 I have driven.. maybe I'm just prejudice, but in my opinion the A4 shifts better and is more consistent...

That being said I DO see many excellent running A6's at the track, and those drivers must have found a way to keep their cars "Consistent" because I have been beaten by many A6 Vetts.. but if I had my choice I would still stay with the A4..

I think the only time I'd prefer the A6 would be if I was going on a very long road trip....

Can these "Tuner" shops get the A6 to shift "NOW" exactly when you click the paddle, although I know that all the good (serious) drag racers do NOT manually shift their A6's...

If any of you were going to build a car for the 1/4 mile (a serious drag car) would you go A4 or A6 ???

Unless you were spinning the motor at well over 12,000RPM you absolutely weren't still in 1st gear.

I looked up a few different online calculators to determine RPM at a given speed and they were all within a few MPH when compared to actual scans from the track made with both 2.56 and 3.42 gears.

Shown below are the results from running with 2.56 gears and a 275/40/17 tire. Even with a really tall 20" tire you'd still be turning over 11,000.

While I can't speak for how other tuners may or may not have the transmission shifting consistently based on using the paddles, I can relate to how freakishly consistent my car is at the track.

Since I've been running the Century transmission there have been dozens of occasions where I've made back to back runs approximately 10-15 minutes apart that were within .002 seconds of each other and in some cases my 1000' times have been exactly the same.

To give you a more recent example, when I was racing on Memorial Day weekend I was able to predict my ET to within .004 seconds (based on my last run and correcting for DA) on three separate occasions over the course of two days. Doing it once would be a fluke, twice would be lucky but three times?
