Default ● Small Cam & Heads LS2 over 500 at the tire ●

I wanted to develop a high horsepower, high torque package around our CNC 243 heads and so far, it’s looking good. This car makes a bunch of torque everywhere and nearly passes the sniffer.

This is a small cammed package meant for daily, Los Angeles traffic.

Present Combination..

243 CNC heads
Small 230’s cam
102 Fast
102 NW TB
LG headers
Labonte Meth system

Final tuning still needs to be done and I will also add our vacuum pump.

I noted 400 ft lbs at 3000 rpm and 460 ft lbs peak. That's huge for that set up.

Tell us more please.

I'll post a few more details when I am completely finished. In general, though, decent static compression, high flowing heads, lightweight valves & valve train components, no restriction manifold/tb/filter, and a decent camshaft selection.

Coupla questions, Charlie. Is this a stroker? Also, I'd like to know about your use of meth.

No stroker..stock 3.622" crank, stock rods and stock pistons. I'll get into the details after the final tune and the vac pump.

I have all the dyno runs from stock through this heads/cam including the FAST 92 and 90 mm set-up (made 498/450).

The meth helps but I haven't fully exploited its use - as soon as the vac pump is on I will see how far I can push this set-up.

Rob,

It's really a reasonably priced package...stop up over the weekend and take a ride in this one..I'll square it with the owner.

I think this should pretty much end the idea that you NEED to have aftermarket heads to make really good power...

I'll second that!

It's that torque curve that is really impressive to me.

My LS2 makes 360 rwtq at 3000 rpm and peak 419 rwtq with ported 243 heads, Fast, headers, and a smaller cam. So this package making 40 rwtq more is really impressive.

Just wondering how....?

Default 35 RW for our ls2's ?

I'M seeing 400RWHP @ 2800 RPM there. A good many of us have reached 500+ NA with our LS2's. In my case I needed TFS Heads to achieve this.
Does any one know if the Kit ( Water/ METH ) would add about 35 RW to
a 500 RW LS2 or LS3 . I think the Kit sells for about $400.00.
BTW SPINMONSTER made one a time ago and had a good writeup where
he used the windshield washer reservior and built the components around it.

I told you that 2yrs ago.

Great power Charlie! Tq readings under 4k are impressive so I'm for more details.

No where near via Meth alone! Meth makes N/A cars more consistent in the summer time primarily. It does allow for more timing but at most you'd gain 10rwhp and that's really pushing the edge with the tuning.
