Default Help - seat back lock?

I had the passenger seat in my C6Z removed for some work and now it seems like the seat back will not lock in place. It seems to move back and forth about 10 inches when in "normal" position.

I just took the seat out and noticed where the seat locking pin (pin that moves when the lever on the back of the seat is moved) engages locking slots in the seat base. The slots are large enough to allow the seat backs to move the amount I am seeing, so this appears to be "normal", but this cannot be correct. Am I missing something or is there something else that locks the seat backs?

Both the seat back release (lever in back of seat) and the recline seem to work, but the recline sometimes works with a loud crunch, so not sure what that means.

I honestly cannot remember how the seats functioned prior to the initial removal, but I assume the amount of movement I am seeing cannot be correct.

Can someone on the forum confirm that the seat back is supposed to lock in place with no movement and provide some insight as what might be wrong with my seat?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Seats in my 05 C6 do move that much forwards, but locked backwards.

The crunching probably isn't a good thing.

Maybe I should clarify: my seat back moves forward about 10 inches, but does not move back any further than the initial position.....is this normal?

That is normal. Not sure why this is the case but every C6 I've seen does this. Those that track these cars and brake hard use a small bungey to keep it from moving as it can become annoying.

Okay, that is exactly why I was concerned, as I track my car. Thanks very much for the confirmation; I'll stop "fixing" my seat now and reinstall it as well as add a bungee cord to my track tools.

Normal.

I'm told it's so the mechanism won't be damaged if you run the seat fully rearward and the seat back hits the bulkhead.

Enjoy!

I hooked my bungee cord to the harness bar, but I noticed that the bungee was wrinkling the leather, so I wrapped the seat with a towel before wrapping the bungee cord around it. When someone asked what the towel was for, I realized it looked ridiculous and have not done anything with the seat since and just let it flop.
